Background:
A novel by Emily Brontë was published in 1847 under the pseudonym "Ellis Bell". It was edited and republished as a posthumous second edition in 1850. It is an example of gothic fiction.
About:
The novel is set the country-side moors. It is a story of two generations of people revolving between two iconic mansions of that area: Thrushcross Grange and the Wuthering Heights.
The story is an experience of rich Englishman called Mr. Lockwood, who had came as a tenant at Thrushcross Grange. As the time progresses, he comes to about the main character of the novel: Mr. Heathcliff, who is portrayed as a tough, stern and rather dangerous man.
Mr. Lockwood dwells deeper to find the happenings at Wuthering Heights, Thrushcross Grange, how these became a property of Mr. Heathcliff. He comes to know to the life of Mr. Heathcliff since he was adopted by Mr. Earnshaw. Ellen Dean, who was the head mistress at Thrushcross Grange at the time of arrival of Mr. Lockwood, revealed what happened between Catherine Earnshaw, the marriage of Edgar Linton and Catherine. He comes to know the plan Heathcliff was implementing for a terrible revenge.

Verdict:
It is an excellent piece of literature. The book keeps the reader soaked in, as if the events are happening in front of eyes. Author has done a great work in describing the atmosphere, the buildings, the moods, the mentality of characters. The intense romance, the narration describing each character's thinking, the love, the cruelty, the care. All make this a great and intense book to read.
